Education and Experience Requirements:- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
-At least 3 years’ experience in a engineering and-or supply chain in a manufacturing environment.
-Demonstrable knowledge of implementing lean manufacturing processes.
-Familiar with plastic molding and metal processing technology and willing to learn and deep dive
new technology.
- Solid engineering and quality knowledge, knowing how to do DOE
-Program management experience from concept/prints to full production manufacturing
Description
We are seeking a Procurement Engineer to join our dynamic team of industry leading experts. Under
the direction of the Materials Manager, in this position, this position will have the following key
responsibilities:
? Work with new product development teams to launch and facilitate development of new products
through speeding up achieving production specified parts with existing and new suppliers
? Assist with development and qualification of local/region suppliers, technologies, and component
level manufacturing processes by providing local project management support and ensuring part
qualification, tool qualification and specification and quality system/plan build up are completed in a
timely manner
? Engage with CR/Central America (CA) based suppliers and U.S. based engineering and quality teams
to deep dive mechanical part manufacturing processes and seek opportunities for cost saving, capacity
optimization, quality, troubleshooting process and value engineering optimization
? Drive U.S. based engineers and CR/CA suppliers to hit timelines and quickly address issues which
impact success of the overall project
? Support Strategic Buyers in building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers in Costa Rica
and/or Central America to ensure top quality components, innovation, continued product support and
low delivered cost and periodically visiting these suppliers and hosting visiting U.S. based engineers
? Work with strategic buyers and key suppliers to review supplier capability, overall engineering and
quality assessment and ensure synergy between supplier product offerings and Lutron technology
requirements
? Lead innovation in quality and cost of components by promoting collaboration between supplier and
Lutron to utilize supplier expertise in developing new technologies and improving existing designs.
? Focus will be on custom mechanical parts including plastic injection molding, die casting, metal
stamping, glass processing and packaging materials
