Linda Vista S.R.L requiere contratar: Plant Breeder

Academic requirements:
Ph.D. or M.Sc. in plant breeding or related field with relevant experience is preferred.
Experienced applicants with a Bachelor’s degree (Licenciatura) will also be considered

Knowledge and skills:
Knowledge and passion for both molecular and traditional plant breeding and the ability to successfully merge cross-disciplinary approaches to create successful breeding pipelines.
Ability to keep self-informed on current or state-of-the-art plant breeding technologies.
Ability to think creatively, adapt to new situations, solve problems, and focus on details.
Ability to work independently and in dynamic team settings.
Excellent organizational and communication skills in Spanish and English, strong interpersonal skills and able to work in a diverse, multi-cultural environment.
Experience with database management, Excel, statistical software, and analyses preferred.
Flexible and adaptable; able to be effective in a fast-paced environment.

Other requirements:
Relocation with the ability to work on-site at Linda Vista, Costa Rica.
Available for domestic travel and international travel without restrictions.
Status: Full Time

Essential Functions:
Manage all components of a commercial breeding program including: germplasm management and discovery, elite parent and inbred development, hybrid creation, and evaluation.
Develop a thorough knowledge of the crop and competitive landscape through interaction and travel with product managers, other breeders, sales, and growers.
Review literature and attend professional meetings to stay informed on developments in crop improvement/seed production and effectively implement new and better techniques.
Steward varieties from early testing for global performance and production capacity through to commercial introduction.
Collect plant characterization data to support intellectual property protection.
Develop efficient and functional breeding strategies specific to each crop to minimize time to market.
Manage all breeding programs in PanAmerican Seed standardized database to allow coordinated communication among researchers.
Trave domestically and globally to evaluate variety trials and monitor production trials.
